“Psych: The Movie” has a premiere date, and get ready to see Shawn and Gus in December

Now it’s really time to break out the pineapples, because we finally have a premiere date for Psych: The Movie.

After teasing us with a December return during San Diego Comic-Con in July, the Psych team *officially* confirmed that Psych: The Movie will air on USA on December 7th during its New York Comic-Con panel.

And you know that’s right.

The film, which takes place three years after the series finale, finds Shawn (James Roday) and Gus (Dule Hill) working out of their “Psychphrancisco” office in San Francisco. They relocated there in the series finale, along with Juliet (Maggie Lawson) and Chief Vice (Kirsten Nelson). After Juliet’s SFPD partner is murdered by (presumably) the film’s Big Bad: Thin White Duke (a blonde, British-accented Zachary Levi), the group — including a newly hipster Henry Spencer (Corbin Bernsen) — comes back together to solve the case.

Joining the *entire* original cast — including an appearance by Timothy Omundson, who has been recovering from a stoke that occurred just before production on the movie began — are a slew of fan favorites, including Kurt Fuller (Woody the Coroner), Ralph Macchio (Nick Conforth), Jimmi Simpson (the deceased Mary Lightly), and John Cena (Ewan O’Hara), whose cameo was confirmed at NYCC.

Like SDCC, fans at the convention were treated to the first 20 minutes of the film, and based on the reactions, it’s safe to say we’re in for a treat. We won’t be reuniting with Psych‘s beloved home of Santa Barbara, but if Steve Franks has his way, our favorite detectives (real and fake psychic) could return in any one of the five potential sequels.

So start decorating your homes in pineapples, practicing your favorite Psych-isms, and telling everyone you know about Pluto — that’s messed up! — because Psych: The Movie is coming up fast.

We’ve heard it both ways…but Psych: The Movie will air on December 7th on USA.
