This professor’s email to her students at the end of the semester is beautiful and uplifting

A professor’s inspiring end-of-semester email to her students is going viral – with good reason.

Jessica Langer taught a marketing and creative industries course at Toronto’s Ryerson University this semester. As classes ended, she emailed her students an encouraging message.

“Statistically, at least some of my students are likely to be in home situations where they don’t have an advocate, she told Buzzfeed. “I feel very strongly that my job as a professor is to be a person in my students’ lives who they can trust and who has their best interest in mind, and who can and will advocate for them, she added.

The letter took off after being shared on twitter, attracting thousands of retweets and inspiring strangers all over the world.

“Your value doesn’t depend on how lucky you are, or how successful you are, or how famous or skillful or rich… You matter,” Langer said.

Great, now we’re crying!
