I wear heels almost every day, and these are the 3 products I use to prevent high heel pain

As a fashion editor, what I wear during the workweek greatly depends on what meetings I have, what events I attend, and of course, the weather. While my clothing tends to change the most often, the one thing that typically remains a constant is my footwear—I almost always wear heels. Whether they’re heeled booties, block-heeled shoes, or stilettos, I’m typically in some type of footwear that makes me look a little bit taller. I’ve been doing this for quite some time, and before then I used to dance ballet and wore pointe shoes five days a week, so I like to think that I’ve become somewhat of an expert in high heel pain relief.

The HelloGiggles office is based in New York City, and for those who have never been, let me just tell you that a lot of walking is involved. When I’m not sitting down at my desk, I’m hopping around the city and standing in the subway. Because of that, I’ve developed techniques for wearing heels without feeling any of the pain associated with them.

1Apply a CBD foot cream.

Shop It! $70, [tempo-ecommerce src=”https://www.sephora.com/product/lord-jones-x-tamara-mellon-high-cbd-formula-stiletto-cream-P450274?skuId=2296796&nrtv_cid=4b28a5b35dc15528c750a9a409a63488a3c2fefc6fddb694237203fc24f197c5&om_mmc=ppc-NV_24044480_8751158_hellogiggles_1713183075987024711&country_switch=us&lang=en” title=”Sephora.com” context=”body”]

I apply this CBD foot cream before I even slip on my heels. It contains 200mg of pure CBD oil, which helps decrease any potential pain. I typically keep it in my bag when I know I’m going to be on my feet all day, in case I need a pick-me-up. This product also won a HelloGiggles Beauty Crush Award for the best CBD foot cream. “I put this foot cream to the test on NYE, and it lasted me through hours of dancing to Cher on a hardwood floor,” said one HG tester. “I expected this to be a gimmicky product that doesn’t work, and it proved me so wrong.”

2Wear blister cushions where needed.

I started using Compeed blister cushions a few years ago and now can’t live without them. Initially, I only used the ones made for the back of the heel, but as I started wearing heels more I started developing blisters on the sides of my feet and on my toes (FML), which is when I switched over to this multi-pack. These cushions are way better than your go-to Band-aids since they stay on for days (even if you sweat or get them wet), they’re comfortable and flexible, and since they’re transparent, they’re incredibly discreet.

3Buy a pair of insoles designed specifically for high heels.

Shoe insoles aren’t one-size-fits-all, which is why it’s important to look for a pair that are designed specifically for high heels. These ones are made out of gel, which creates a more floaty feel, and the little grips help with its no-slip technology—nobody needs to be walking around like they’re Bambi on ice.
