The Disney princesses got a GOLDEN makeover for Shanghai Disneyland
The newest Disney theme park is now officially OPEN. Shanghai Disneyland held its official grand opening ceremony yesterday today (time differences, you know) and if you missed your flight to China, don’t worry, Disney broadcast the whole thing live on Facebook.
The opening ceremony had all the Disney fanfare we’ve come to know and love, like incredible dancing, fireworks, and of course, princesses. Since this wasn’t just any old royal celebration, the Disney princesses showed up to the event looking pretty spectacular. They were also all decked out in GOLD.
So much gold. Gold as far as the eye can see. There was also red mixed in, too, since the color combination of red and gold, the two colors symbolically meaning joy and good luck — both things that Shanghai Disneyland are bound to embody.
But let’s get back to these sparkly princess makeovers. They’re bringing us joy and good luck right now. Snow White is basically a glowing golden goddess in a dress that looks like it’s made out of a thousand golden leaves (same goes for Prince Charming’s cloak).
Elsa has ditched her shimmery blue dress for a shimmery gold dress, and no, we never want to let this outfit go.
Aladdin looks absolutely divine in the color, but let’s be real, the real best part is Jasmine’s two-piece golden outfit. Where can we get this, and is it workplace appropriate?
There wasn’t enough gold under the sea for Ariel, and on land, clearly, she can get her fix. BUT OH SNAP, THERE’S MERIDA, TOTALLY UPSTAGING OUR FAVORITE MERMAID. Fierce, Merida, fierce.
And then there’s Sleeping Beauty. No golden dress for you, Sleeping Beauty. Maybe next time a new Disney Park opens?
You won’t actually be able to meet the princesses in these golden dresses in the park — such a bummer — but you can relieve the magical moment again and again in the opening ceremony video. And you can buy your Shanghai Disneyland tickets right here, because now you really REALlY want them.
