This designer recreated Princess Diana’s most memorable outfits in a runway show — and got Naomi Campbell to model them
Paris Fashion Week is in full swing and the runway looks never cease to amaze. One of our favorite moments was Virgil Abloh’s Off-White show, which served as an ode to Princess Diana.
The catwalk memorial was fitting, coming a month after the 20th anniversary of her tragic death as the result of a car accident in Paris. Abloh reportedly scoured hundreds of pictures of the royal icon to help inspire the collection.
Abloh has long been one to create his own spin on classic designs. Earlier this year, IKEA announced it would team up with the designer to update its Frakta bag, the large blue tote given to customers. Abloh has a keen eye for design, as both a former architect graduate and furniture designer.
For Paris Fashion Week, his aim was to create updated versions of some of the late, great princess’s best looks. And we have to say he nailed it.
According to Harper’s Bazaar, Abloh was inspired by Diana’s love of tartan day suits:

And her love of cocktail suits:
By far the biggest moment of the show was when supermodel Naomi Campbell appeared for the finale, wearing a crisp white jacket paired with… bicycle shorts.
The look was a new take on a classic Diana look — ivory-toned suits and jackets — but with a sporty twist.
Campbell looked gorgeous as ever, and we have to say, we kind of love the jacket and spandex look.
