Brand new Prince music is coming soon, so it’s time to party like it’s 1999

It’s been almost two years since music legend Prince passed away, but his legacy continues to live on. We’ve just learned that previously unreleased Prince music will be out in the near future — and we’re already partying like it’s 1999.

Last year, on the anniversary of the musician’s death, a new EP of Prince songs was scheduled to be hit major streaming services before the release was halted by Prince’s estate. This time around, it all seems pretty legit, so get ready for more Prince.

“He was a guy who practically lived in a recording studio, and once we started going through [the unreleased material] we really started finding some gems, head of Spotify’s global creative services and Prince estate adviser, Troy Carter, told Variety.

“I heard some music the other night that was pretty mind-blowing and we’re getting some stuff mixed right now. We’ve got great projects in the works that I’m excited to talk about...So the answer is yes, there will be unreleased Prince music coming soon.

The music icon’s massive collection of unreleased music was notably moved from his famous Paisley Park compound to a climate-controlled facility in Los Angeles, after some material had been damaged. His siblings are now trying to move it back to the estate, following the recent fires in California.

To mark the second anniversary of his death, Prince: Live on the Big Screen, which will take place at the Target Center in his native Minneapolis, is also slated to feature “remastered and never-before-released” tracks.

We still don’t know when the unreleased songs will hit the airwaves — or if they’ll be packaged in the form of an EP or a full-blown album — but if “mind-blowing” means Purple Rain levels of iconic, then we’re already so HEAR for it.
