Prince Harry says none of the royals actually want to be King or Queen, and um, what?
Being royal sounds like a pretty great job, right? You have wealth, you’re famous, you get to travel a lot…seems like a good deal. Well, our view of the royal life might not be as accurate as we’d like to imagine. In a recent interview, Prince Harry opened up about how no one in the royal family actually wants to be king or queen. Guess the crown (and the responsibility that comes with it) is heavier than we thought.
While speaking to Newsweek, Prince Harry casually dropped the bombshell that being a king or queen isn’t quite as coveted a position as people might imagine.
So why would someone have reservations about assuming the throne? Prince Harry spoke candidly about his desire for a normal life — and how his family as a whole is determined to modernize the British monarchy as much as they can. That being said, no one is going to refuse the throne.
“We are involved in modernizing the British monarchy. We are not doing this for ourselves but for the greater good of the people. Is there any one of the royal family who wants to be king or queen? I don’t think so, but we will carry out our duties at the right time.
For those keeping track, Prince Harry is fifth in line to assume the crown. We can totally understand his desire for some normalcy in his daily life. Glamorous as it may seem, being king or queen is no easy task.
