Prince Harry hopes Princess Diana is “incredibly proud”

Well, this hits us right in the heart: Prince Harry opened up to Good Morning America this morning about his late mother Princess Diana, who died in 1997. The 31-year-old royal and brother to Prince William appeared on GMA to discuss the 2016 Invictus Games, where is he dedicated to raising awareness about veterans.

As the official website for the British monarchy notes, Prince Harry served for 10 years in the British military, attaining the rank of Captain and serving two tours in Afghanistan. He’s accomplished so much, and his biggest hope is that his mother would be proud.

“I hope that a lot of my mother’s talents are shown in a lot of the work I do,” Prince Harry revealed, according to ABC News. “I hope she’s looking down, you know, with tears in her eyes, being incredibly proud of what we’ve established, I suppose.”

Prince Harry also spoke about Princess Diana’s death, which occurred when he was only 12 years old. “I think losing your mother at such a young age does end up shaping your life massively,” Prince Harry told GMA‘s Robin Roberts. “Of course, it does, and now I find myself trying to be there and give advice to other people who are in similar positions.”

His next hope to make his late mother proud lies in making a family of his own, especially after having a taste of being an uncle. “I can’t wait for the day,” he said about having kids. “So, you know, it will be fantastic. I’ve got a kid inside of me. I want to keep that. I adore kids.” Hey, the world certainly wouldn’t say no to another royal baby in our lives.
