13 people who will probably be invited to Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s royal wedding
If you’re desperate for royal wedding news, you’re not alone. Citizens of Great Britain are so invested in the guest list for Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s upcoming nuptials, they’re even betting on it.
Now, there’s no official announcement on who will score an invite, but there’s a solid list of people who have good odds of being on the list. Prince Harry and Meghan are bucking tradition by hosting a much smaller ceremony than many past royal weddings (meaning there’s only room for 800 guests). It might seem like a lot of people, but compared to his parents’ wedding, it’s small potatoes. Prince Charles and Lady Diana Spencer, in fact, had a whopping 3,500 guests at their wedding.
With this limited amount of seating, British bookies are calling out odds on who’s going to make the cut (don’t worry, it’s legal betting). So, who’s in the running to get a golden ticket to the wedding of the year? Members of the royal family, like Prince William and Kate Middleton, are obviously in. But as far as we know, many celebs and dignitaries will be in attendance. Eight hundred seats can fill up fast when you consider all the political factors involved, too.
Here are some of the people who are *probably* getting an invite to the royal wedding:
1The Obamas
While some people believe inviting the Obamas (and not current President Donald Trump) might anger the White House, it’s probably going to happen. Since the wedding isn’t an official state function, Harry and Meghan can invite whomever they like. And in this case, it’s safe to say they’re probably bigger fans of the Obamas than they are of Trump.
2Prime Minister Theresa May
Let’s be honest, she’s kind of an obvious invite.
3Justin Trudeau
No royal wedding guest list would be complete without Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, who just happens to be the leader of a Commonwealth country.
4Elton John
The Rocket Man famously dedicated the song “Candle in the Wind” to Harry’s mom, Princess Diana. Chances are he’ll be at the wedding — especially because he just rescheduled concerts that were scheduled for that weekend.
5Anthony Joshua
The British boxer has been unabashedly angling for an invite. He even jokingly tweeted a photo of himself with Harry asking if he needed a best man.
6Ed Sheeran
He’s been trying to sing at a royal wedding for ages, so maybe this will be his chance.
7Adele
Many people think the award-winning songstress will be asked to perform.
8Serena Williams
The tennis star is a good friend of Meghan’s, so she’s likely to be there.

Violet von Westenholz is the friend who introduced Meghan to Prince Harry in the first place. You know she’s getting an invite, since the royal wedding wouldn’t be happening without her!
10Patrick Adams
Meghan’s co-star on the drama Suits is leaving the show at the end of its seventh season (as is Meghan), but that doesn’t mean they won’t stay in touch.
Members of the British military could be in attendance as friends of the groom. Harry served as a helicopter co-pilot in Afghanistan, remember?
11James Blunt
Maybe he’ll sing a less sad version of “You’re Beautiful”?
12Coldplay
The British rock band is included in the betting for wedding performer(s). That would be amazing.
13Jessica Mulroney
The stylist and close friend of Meghan’s actually orchestrated the outfit Meghan wore in her engagement photos with Harry back in November.
Who else is waiting for their invitation in the mail? Guess we’ll find out in May.
