Prince Harry and Meghan Markle Are Making a Rom-Com For Netflix, Says Source

The rumored rom-com comes on the heels of their forthcoming Netflix docuseries, 'Invictus Games.'

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are reportedly looking to add a rom-com to their Netflix portfolio next. A source told The Telegraph that, for the rest of the couple’s deal with Netflix, fans can expect “more of a heavy focus on fictional, scripted content.”

Though Harry and Meghan have yet to announce what exactly that will entail, the insider said, “It will be rom coms, feel good and light-hearted programmes.” It’s also unclear whether or not Meghan will return to her acting roots for the rumored film or be joining her husband behind the camera.

A sappy love story is quite the departure from the couple’s forthcoming project for the streaming giant: A new docuseries called Heart of Invictus.

In January, Netflix announced on Twitter that the couple’s new sports program would be hitting the platform in summer 2023. Heart of Invictus follows players of the 2020 Invictus Games as they face off in Harry’s sporting competition for wounded warriors.

“This new series from Archewell Productions follows a group of extraordinary competitors from around the globe — all service members who have suffered life-changing injuries or illnesses — on their road to competing at the Invictus Games,” Netflix wrote on Twitter.

In conjunction with the organizing committee of the London Games, Harry and the Invictus Games Foundation have put on the global event for nearly a decade. Over 20 countries are represented at the Games, and like the Olympics, the Invictus Games is always hosted by a different nation.

The 2020 Games were pushed to April 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic and were hosted in The Hauge, Netherlands.

In the past, hosts of the Invictus Games have included London, Orlando, Toronto, and Sydney, according to the foundation’s website. The 2023 Invictus Games are set to take place in Düsseldorf, Germany. Canada will host the 2025 Games.

Heart of Invictus is the Sussex’s latest project from their multimillion-dollar deal with Netflix. In December 2022, the streaming service dropped the couple’s highly anticipated docuseries, Harry & Meghan, which journeyed their exit from Buckingham Palace, and consequently, their falling out with the royal family.

Unlike its predecessor, Heart of Invictus will see the Duke and Duchess of Sussex in more of a supporting role.

For an extensive look into Prince Harry’s former life as a royal, his new memoir Spare is now available wherever books are sold.
