Prince Harry and Meghan Markle opened up about their timeline for having kids

Sure, they probably don’t want to get asked about it quite yet, but there’s no doubt about it — Prince Harry and Meghan Markle will probably have kids somewhere down the line. After announcing their engagement yesterday, people have a ton of questions for the couple. And since Prince Harry has been notoriously adorable with children in the past, it would be pretty sweet to see him with his own son or daughter.

He’s also got a lot of experience — while he’s surely spent a lot of time with his brother William’s children, Prince George and Princess Charlotte, he’s also the godfather to a few of his friend’s children. During an interview on The Telegraph’s Mad World podcast, he gave some advice to other godfathers that could also translate well for fathers. “I think the key to [being a good godfather] is to be able to grow up, but also be able to stay in touch with your childhood side,” he said.

Still, he’s noted that there have been a few times when he’d prefer not to have his own children. It’s a difficult and life-changing decision, for sure. But luckily, it seems as if Prince Harry is focusing more on his upcoming 2018 wedding, which we understand.

When asked if he’s currently planning to have kids, he responded with a “Not currently, no.” According to People, Markle laughed a bit at his answer.

"Of course, one step at a time and hopefully we’ll start a family in the near future," he clarified.

Back in 2016, Harry noted that “there’s no rush,” and we’re glad that he’s taking things one step at a time. If and when Prince Harry and Meghan Markle decide to have kids, we know they’ll be in excellent hands.
