We just found out what Prince George wants to be when he grows up (!!!!!!)
When I was little, I wanted to be Ariel from The Little Mermaid. So I’m tickled to read that Prince George at two-and-a-half years old wants to be something far more practical (and, you know, real): an air cadet!
Here’s how we got the scoop. On Sunday, Princess Kate attended a special service to mark the 75th anniversary of the Royal Air Force Air Cadets. While there, Princess Kate announced that she plans help improve recruitment and increase the number of adult volunteers who keep the Air Training Corps’ 1,000 squadrons running.
Princess Kate took over the role as Honorary Air Commandant from Prince Philip around Christmas, ending Prince Philip’s sixty-three year association with the organization. This marks her first patronage with a military link. And the people are pumped.
Pilot Carol Vorderman commented: “[Princess Kate’s] husband is a pilot. Her brother-in-law is a pilot. Her father-in-law is a pilot. Her mum used to work in an airline. She obviously has a great appreciation of the military and enthusiasm for youth.”
And it seems that Prince George has inherited that enthusiasm!
During the event, Kate told nineteen-year-old cadet Lucinda Conder that she had shown Prince George pictures of Spitfire fighter planes after a royal engagement.
“He is now obsessed with the air cadets and wants to join,” Conder told reporters on Sunday. And who can blame him?
Conder, like Vorderman, also believes having Kate involved in the RAF will encourage female cadets: “It’s brilliant to have Kate involved. It’s just really nice to have a female patron for us girls. Kate is passing the responsibility down the royal family. And it’s also nice to have a new, refreshing, younger patron. I think she’s going to bring alive the air cadets again. ”
I am so glad Princess Kate has found another way to inspire young ladies and gentleman. Now I’m just hoping for some adorable photos of Prince George dressed in a kid’s-sized pilots uniform, even if it’s just for play.
