Oh hey, a ‘Pride and Prejudice and Zombies’ trailer

What has stunning 19th century gowns, gore and action, a group of badass sisters slaying zombies, and Matt Smith? That would be the upcoming movie, Pride and Prejudice and Zombies. I don’t even know what else you could want from a film. I was sincerely hoping this movie would be amazing, but now that we’ve been gifted with the official international trailer, all my hopes and dreams have been confirmed. I mean, if Matt Smith starring in it wasn’t enough to get you excited for the movie (am I right, Whovians?), this trailer will.

Pride and Prejudice and Zombies is adapted from the best-selling novel of the same name by Seth Grahame-Smith, which itself is based off of the 1813 classic by Jane Austen, Pride and Prejudice. For the novel, Grahame-Smith took the basic elements of Austen’s story and threw in a bunch of zombies making it instantly awesome.

The film features an all-star cast with Lily James (Cinderella) as Elizabeth Bennet, Lena Headey (Game of Thrones) as Lady Catharine de Bourgh, Matt Smith (Doctor Who) as Mr. Collins, Sam Riley (Maleficent) as Mr. Darcy. Charles Dance, Bella Heathcote, Suki Waterhouse, and Jack Huston also star.

The trailer shows the five Bennet daughters kicking major undead ass — whipping out daggers holstered under their gowns with their perfectly styled updo’s never moving an inch. At one point in the trailer, Elizabeth Bennet says, “I would never relinquish my sword for a ring.” And when she’s told, “For the right man you would,” her reply is perfect: “The right man wouldn’t ask me to.” Preach, Elizabeth.

So much wisdom in those words! That line is so empowering for women today … except maybe replace a sword with Buffy the Vampire Slayer on Netflix. Either way, girl power.
