The preview for the second half of “The Walking Dead” Season 7 is here, and it’s making us very nervous

It’s the time of year that fans like us dread: The midseason gap. The Walking Dead is on hiatus until February. Now we just have to wait until — 0h wait, there’s a trailer for the second half of Season 7, so we can obsess over that!

The Walking Dead trailer teases all out war against Negan, which isn’t surprising. At least, not as surprising as everything that happened at Alexandria in the Season 7 midseason finale. So we’ll just be over here, analyzing everything like we did with pre-Season 7 The Walking Dead trailers, because we always NEED TO KNOW.

Ahem. Anyway, here’s that trailer:

At the end of the midseason finale, Rick and company came to The Hilltop. There was a loooot of hugging and serious FEELS. Our favorite characters reunite, and we’re not crying, you’re crying.

But now to the important part: Why the envoy from Alexandria is visiting The Hilltop (Because, spoiler alert, they’re not having a baby shower for Maggie). They’re there to convince Gregory and the citizens at The Hilltop to fight The Saviors.

In the trailer, Rick says, “Alexandria, The Hilltop, and The Kingdom – our communities have something in common. We all serve The Saviors.”

Then we get flashes that make us equally pumped, and very scared, for the second half of The Walking Dead season 7. There’s are lot of guns drawing, for one. For another, there’s at least one fistfight. And, finally, there’s also maybe a drag race? At least, we see Simon, one of The Saviors, in the passenger’s seat of a car. Then, we see Rick driving another car, looking frantic. It might just be editing, but it sure looks like a race is about to happen.

The words “Rise Up” are cut into these glimpses, and there can be no mistake: It’s time for the groups that Negan has terrorized to stand up for themselves. Rick urges Ezekiel: “Join us, in fighting them.” Even though we know it isn’t a done deal, we can’t help but feel like Ezekiel will agree.

And then, the trailer ends. But not before we get a peek at something utterly weird and terrifying.

What is that thing? It moves toward Rick, and we’re seriously creeped out. Is it a walker? We can’t even tell. Either way, we don’t want anything to do with it.

We’ll have to wait till February to find out whether the groups actually do rise up against The Saviors. At least that gives us plenty of time to figure out what that thing behind Rick is.
