“Pretty Little Liars” may be gone, but here’s how its legacy will live on

The TV gods are here to help us, dear readers. That’s because Freeform ordered a PLL spinoff called Pretty Little Liars: The Perfectionists! The spinoff will star Sasha Pieterse and Janel Parrish in the roles of Alison and Mona, which originated on Pretty Little Liars.

It’s going to be based on the book of the same name by Sara Shepard, who penned the Pretty Little Liars book series and also wrote for the show. Since we already know that Shepard can be relied upon for *great* Freeform fuel, we’re pretty excited. And we’re also thrilled that Pretty Little Liars will live on, at least in some way!

The description makes us even more eager to get this show in our eyes ASAP:

"Everything about the town of Beacon Heights seems perfect, from their top-tier college to their overachieving residents. But nothing in Beacon Heights is as it appears to be. The stress of needing to be perfect leads to the town’s first murder. Behind every Perfectionist is a secret, a lie, and a needed alibi."

Shepard isn’t the only part of this Freeform partnership that will be returning for another round post-Pretty Little LiarsThe Perfectionists will be put in the uber capable hands of Pretty Little Liars showrunner I. Marlene King.

Freeform is pretty pumped about that, too!

"We can't wait to continue Marlene King's rich and revolutionary storytelling with a new crop of leading ladies from Beacon Heights who will hold just as many secrets and lies as Rosewood did," said Karey Burke, executive vp programming and development at the network.

And the feeling is definitely mutual.

"I’m beyond excited to continue my collaboration with Sara Shepard, Alloy, Freeform, and Warner Horizon," King said. "I can’t wait to introduce our fans — and Sasha and Janel — to a new world of thrills and chills in Beacon Heights."

We’re super excited to see where this reliable team takes us!
