President Obama’s photographer took the most gorgeous photo of the supermoon in D.C.
Struggling to feel patriotic these days? Well, here’s something that might help. The official White House photographer, Pete Souza, posted a breathtaking photograph of the supermoon over Washington, D.C. on Instagram. With some of America’s most recognizable landmarks and the biggest supermoon in 68 years being featured, Souza’s photograph will not only remind you of the beauty of America, but also how tiny we are in this giant universe that we live in.
In the photo, the supermoon can be seen emitting its gorgeous bright light over the Old Post Office Tower, the Lincoln Memorial, the Washington Monument, and the U.S. Capitol. To literally top it all off, an American Airlines plane with its telltale American flag tail design was flying overhead when the photo was taken.
Does it get any more American than this?
While we could get lost admiring the supersized lunar surface, there is something particularly special about seeing this giant moon hang over the nation’s capital. Especially after the results from the 2016 presidential election.
It’s almost as if the moon is comforting Americans. Or at least telling us that there’s much more out there in this mysterious universe than who is the President of the United States of America.
