A preschooler just donated all his piggy bank money to his teacher for the best reason, and now we’re crying

Little four-year-old Camden Hand is showing us all what it means to love someone. When the preschooler heard that a teacher at his school had been diagnosed with lung cancer, he donated every single penny in his piggy bank for her medical care. According to WCTV, Camden showed up at school with his life savings in a ziplock bag. $105.15, which TBH seems like a lot of money for a four-year-old. We’re impressed with your fiscal responsibility, Camden. But even more so with your kind and loving heart!

Betty Payne is a teacher at Good Samaritan Preschool in Tallahassee, Florida. After her diagnosis, she began receiving chemotherapy treatments several times a week. The cost of each treatment is as much as $700. During a recent treatment, she was sent a photo on her cell phone. It was a picture of Camden holding his donation.

“I couldn’t do nothing but cry to be honest with you,” she told WCTV. “I actually cried because, I mean, I don’t know. It’s just a feeling that I can’t explain. I just cried.” We might actually be crying a little too, Betty. (We totally are.)

Christie Hand, Camden’s mom, says emptying out his piggy bank was all Camden’s idea. “We were already proud of him. That made us so very proud of him. Kind of that proud parent moment when your heart just sort of swells.”

Camden’s piggy bank money will go toward a fund the school is collecting to help Betty pay for her medical care. We wish Betty the best, and we’re sending big hugs to Camden for being such a special kid. Hear more about this loving little boy in the video below.
