All these former Disney Channel stars reunited at the premiere for the 100th DCOM!
When you hear the phrase “Disney Channel Original Movie,” a wave of nostalgia likely hits. In fact, it was a huge deal when the Disney Channel decided to marathon their many movies over Memorial Day weekend this year, from May 27th to May 30th. Whether your favorite DCOM was Stepsister from Planet Weird or Camp Rock, you probably spent a majority of your holiday weekend binging old favorites (or at least, filling up your DVR so you could have them forever).
The marathon was ramping up for quite the event — the 100th DCOM ever made, called Adventures in Babysitting, a remake of the original 1987 movie. The film stars Sabrina Carpenter and Sofia Carson, both who are familiar with the Disney brand and Disney family. To show support, many DCOM cast members from the past decided to attend the premiere in L.A., taking to Instagram to show off some of their best red carpet photos.
Recognize this guy? It’s Adam Wiley, one of the very first DCOM celebrities. Wiley starred in Under Wraps, which premiered in 1997. Wiley played Gilbert in this mummy-filled comedy adventure.
Monique Coleman reunited with her High School Musical buddy Olesya Rulin, and both of them look absolutely fabulous. By the way, did you know High School Musical came out ten years ago? Makes you feel old, doesn’t it?
How can you celebrate a brand new DCOM without the Lawrence brothers? Here are Joey, Matthew, and Andy on the way to the big celebration. Their DCOM Horse Sense came out in 1999 (even though Matthew only had a bit part) and 2001’s Jumping Ship is still known as being quite the incredibly outdoorsy film.
Cory and Newt are back in the house! Cory in the House was a brief spinoff of That’s So Raven that premiered in 2007, but actor Kyle Massey seemed to get over the cancellation. In fact, he seems nothing but overjoyed to see his on-screen best friend, played by Jason Dolley. We can watch this one on loop forever.
Of course, Dolley isn’t the only Disney star that Massey got a chance to catch up with. Here he is with Jason Earles, who played Jackson Stewart on Hannah Montana.
Ren Stevens — er, Christy Carlson Romano — from Even Stevens showed up, bringing along her husband, Brendan Rooney, and her daughter, due around Christmas. “If anyone knows me, I’m obsessed with Christmas,” she said to EOnline at the event. “I also have two Christmas movies coming out around the same time, so it’s going to be a very Christy Christmas.”
Chucky Klapow, the choreographer for the High School Musical franchise, was so excited about seeing his old friends that he created a fun-filled collage. Kenny Ortega actually directed all three High School Musical movies, so he’s obviously pretty close with Klapow. Klapow was even jazzed over his meetup with Sabrina Bryan, known best for The Cheetah Girls, where she played Dorinda “Do” Thomas.
Back in 2015, X-Factor champions Forever In Your Mind signed with Disney. Not only that, band members Ricky Garcia and Emery Kelly have roles in the Disney Channel show Best Friends Whenever. So, it makes sense that they’d show up to support Adventures In Babysitting, and want to get a picture with one of the film’s big stars.
Don’t you wish you were at the big event? You can watch Adventures In Babysitting tonight, June 24th, at 8 p.m Eastern.
