And in seconds, this pregnant reporter shut down body-shamers like a boss

Everyone knows how rough Internet comment sections can be. As BuzzFeed reports, Australian journalist and television personality Sarah Harris experienced the heat firsthand when pictures of the off-the-clock pregnant journalist appeared in the Daily Mail. Below, one of the published shots:

“My first reaction when I saw these photos was ‘Oh my God,’” Harris explained to her co-hosts on her show Studio 10. And then I made the mistake of reading the comments. Some of them were just revolting, having a go at how huge I am, how fat I am, how ugly I am. And, you know, when your pregnant you do feel really vulnerable and self-conscious about your body, so I did feel pretty awful about the comments and the pictures, but then I thought ‘You know what? Bugger it. I’m growing a baby. This is me.”

She went on to defend her off-duty look.

This is how I get around once I leave work, I take off my pretty frocks, my heavy makeup, the hair, I take off my Spanx, which I’m still wearing. That’s what I look like and that’s okay.”

“I hope those photos of me make other pregnant women feel better about their bodies because I’m kind of fed up with the body-shaming that happens when you’re pregnant and the pressure that comes after to lose the baby weight.”

And Harris brought in a celeb quote to back her position up:

“Christina Applegate, the actress, said ‘You know what? I’m growing brain matter. I’m growing elbows. And I’m proud of my body and what it’s doing.”

Harris she has a message for all the pregnant ladies out there who are feeling self-conscious about their bodies.

“For all the pregnant women out there who might be feeling a little chubby, a little flabby, on behalf of all of them, I want to say to the haters ‘Get stuffed.’”

This was followed by cheers galore from Harris’ co-hosts and her audience because of COURSE it was. We love how Harris took her negative experience and spun it into body positivity gold. Big ups to Harris for giving pregnant women (and really, all of us) the self-love pep talk we needed (and we totally co-sign her message to the trolls, #byehaters.)
