Here are the most popular Halloween costumes of 2015

Halloween is right around the corner and that means a lot of things. It means eating your weight in candy (just me? Can’t just be me). It means indulging in spooky movie marathons. And most importantly, it means getting dressed up in a cool costume and living life as someone else for just one night. Picking out the perfect Halloween costume is a whole process. You want something that represents your personality and taste. You want something that’s unique and clever and going to garner lots of love. And you want something that’s doable — whether that means store-bought and in your price range or something you can DIY at home. So which costumes that fit that bill are going to be all over your Instagram this October? Our friends over at The Hunt have compiled a list of the 10 most popular costumes this Halloween (and, honestly, they’re all costumes that we’d love to don for the holiday). 1. Cher Horowitz from Clueless Cher Horowitz is a Halloween classic. It’s an easy costume to pull off (just wear some of Cher’s signature yellow plaid and you’re set) and the outfit is something you can repurpose to wear again in your real life, thanks to the recent comeback of all things ’90s fashion. 2. Harley Quinn from DC ComicsWith the Suicide Squad movie just months away and generating insane amounts of buzz, it’s no wonder this Comic-Con staple is becoming a popular Halloween option this year. 3. Jigsaw the villain from the SAW movies  For those looking to get their legitimately-scary-vibes on, this Saw villain is still a very popular costume choice. 4. Alice from Alice in Wonderland Some costumes never go out of style and we have a feeling Alice appears on these costume popularity lists on an almost-yearly basis. Of course, the upcoming Alice Through the Looking Glass (the sequel to Tim Burton’s mega-hit Alice in Wonderland) can’t be hurting this look’s popularity. 5. Minion from Despicable Me/Minions The whole world seems to be suffering from a case of Minion fever right now, so it’s no wonder these adorably hilarious yellow blobs are dominating Halloween this year. The best part? You can get really creative with your interpretation of a minion — it doesn’t require a full fuzzy bodysuit to pull off. 6. Cheerleader  Another Halloween classic, but the best way to embrace this look in 2015 is to ditch the “sexy” approach and be a cheerleader for something unique, like unicorns. Because who doesn’t want to lead a loud cheer for unicorns? 7. Mario & Luigi from Mario Kart If you want to use Halloween as a chance to shout your love for vintage gaming from the metaphorical rooftops, you’re not alone; Mario and Luigi are a top 10 costume this year. 8. Skeleton  Another popular option on the scarier side of things is the classic skeleton costume. The key to pulling this look off in 2015? It’s all in the face makeup. 9. Unicorn (onesie pajama costume) Want to embrace your whimsical side? Now is the time; unicorns are a trending costume this year. Bonus: This is a great way to justify buying those unicorn onesie pajamas you’ve been coveting. 10. Ariel from The Little Mermaid  We knew at least one Disney princess had to make the list, but honestly we were kind of expecting it to be Elsa or Anna, given the world’s lingering obsession with Frozen. We’re happy to see a Disney classic in the top 10 though because Ariel never goes out of style. (Images via Paramount Pictures, The Hunt.)
