Please bow down to this 11 year old who already wrote an opera and isn’t quitting anytime soon
Kids these days seem to be increasingly obsessed with TV, cell phones, and of course, the internet. Then there’s Alma Deutscher, an 11-year-old girl who composed an opera. Yes, you read that right. A tween wrote an opera which will have its world premier this December. Talk about slaying, right?
Deutscher has been frequently compared to Mozart, who wrote his symphony when he was 8. But according to the prodigy herself, “I think for me it’s more interesting to be Alma.” Adorable, talented, and confident? This little girl is wise beyond her years. Her opera, Cinderella, which is written in the German language, is being conducted by the 11-year-old herself. She leads rehearsals and commands respect; there is no doubt that Alma is a one-of-a-kind talent. When Cinderella premiers in Vienna, Austria on December 29, we are sure that the show will go off without a hitch.

Alma already has quite the resume already, and her short (albeit impressive) career started at age 4 when she began writing songs. Yes, while most tots were playing with blocks Alma was composing music. But despite all her impressive talents, Alma is an average kid who enjoys playing with friends and climbing trees.

However, there’s no denying that her skills with a piano, violin, and her “perfect pitch” voice are pretty extraordinary. It’s almost like she’s a real life Hannah Montana: equal parts musician and everyday girl next door. How much cooler can you be as an 11 year old? We think Alma takes the cake.
When her debut production Cinderella debuts next month, we’re sure the world will be once again amazed by this pint-sized girl with grandiose talent. But for now, we will wait anxiously to see what she does next. Because let’s be real, it’s prob going to be amazing.
