We have THREE new clips from Pixar’s ‘The Good Dinosaur’—and they’re awesome

In one short week, Pixar’s The Good Dinosaur is going to roar into theaters. The story follows the journey of a little green Apatosaurus named Arlo who accidentally gets separated from his herd and then must find his way back home. Along the way he meets a human friend, who becomes his traveling companion — did I forget to mention that in this Pixar story an asteroid never crashed into Earth and destroyed all traces of the mighty dinosaurs?

The story is a classic role reversal, in a cute dinosaur-meets-boy way. The animation looks downright magical, and the movie is rounded out with a great cast of characters including a few giant — but apparently, friendly – T-Rexes that Arlo comes across along the way. Ahead of the movie’s release on November 24th, Pixar has gifted us with not one, but three looks at these giant creatures. And then, one precious moment between Arlo and his dad, Poppa. I’m not already crying at The Good Dinosaur, YOU’RE crying at it!

Note to self: remember to bring tissues to this movie.

From these new clips, it appears as if Arlo is terrified of absolutely everything (you’re not alone, dino). How he comes to be with friends with these T-Rex guys is still unknown, but clearly the group, led by Butch (and that voice you hear is Sam Elliot) is trying to help him out and teach him to face his fears. At least he’ll start off small, but roaring really loud looks hard.

The second clip dives into the backstory behind Butch’s scar, that he got wrestling a prehistoric croc! That’s not something you hear about every day.

The third clip is so far my favorite. It’s a little bit longer, and shows the relationship between Arlo and his Poppa, voiced by Jeffrey Wright. In it, when faced with a pretty scary bug (feel you, Arlo), Poppa explains that, “Sometimes you gotta get through your fear to see the beauty on the other side.”

If this still isn’t enough Good Dinosaur for you, starting tomorrow Disney and Pixar are kicking off Dino Week, which will celebrate absolutely everything about dinosaurs, both real and animated. They’ll be even more brand new clips, features, and activities themed to the movie’s release, so hopefully you’re ready for some prehistoric overload. There’s no such thing as too many adorable dinosaurs.
