We have our first look at Pixar’s new short, ‘Sanjay’s Super Team’

The only thing better than a brand new Pixar movie is a brand new Pixar movie that includes an amazing Pixar SHORT before it. Be honest, you cried during Inside Out, but you really started crying during Lava (you guys the two volcanoes fall in LOVE).

We’re already super excited about the upcoming release of Pixar’s next movie, The Good Dinosaur, and now, we’ve got a peek at the short that’s going to play in front of it, Sanjay’s Super Team. From this first look, we’re already in love with little Sanjay.

The short is directed by Sanjay Patel (who has worked as an animator on A Bug’s Life, Ratatouille, and Monsters University), and tells the story of a little Sanjay who just wants to watch his superhero cartoons. But, it’s way more than just your ordinary superhero tale, since Sanjay is a ” young, first-generation Indian-American boy whose love for western pop culture comes into conflict with his father’s traditions.”

From the clip, we totally see those conflicts come to head. Sanjay is trying to watch his TV show with the volume way up, while his dad is trying to pray. From there, Sanjay finds himself  “on a journey he never imagined, returning with a new perspective that [he and his father] can both embrace.” From what we’ve previously learned about the project, it becomes like an “ancient, Hindu version of The Avengers.”

Yes to all of this. Pixar released a few images from the film along with a 38-second clip. You can check it out below, and then check out the whole short in theaters on November 25, ahead of The Good Dinosaur.
