Anna Kendrick has “selfish” reasons for not wanting a “Pitch Perfect” reboot

No doubt about it, we live in a culture of sequels, reboots, revivals, and the like. So while we know the Pitch Perfect series is (probably) coming to an end with Pitch Perfect 3, we *really* wouldn’t be surprised if it isn’t actually the end. Like, if Pitch Perfect is rebooted in a matter of months and Beca, Chloe, Aubrey, Amy, and the rest of their musically-inclined group are recast, we wouldn’t be shocked by any means.

But the thing is, Anna Kendrick isn’t about to let that type of reboot happen. And for the best reason.

"Not to be selfish, but no thanks. I'm going to take a hard pass on that version," she told HelloGiggles.

Rather, if Pitch Perfect does come back in the near future, she wouldn’t want anyone to play Beca but her.

Not only is Kendrick saying aca-no thank you to someone else assuming her character’s shoes, but she doesn’t want someone to play a version of Beca.

"We were actually thinking oh God, what if they do that thing where they bring in a whole new crew, and it's like, there's a new girl, and her name's not Beca, but she's basically Beca," Kendrick quipped. "So I think if it's the end, that's fine. If it's not the end, we would all love to do more."

The way she sees it, she doesn’t want the Pitch Perfect series to go through the, “Spider-Man thing of getting a new cast every couple of years.”

Don’t get us wrong, we love us some Spidey — and its many iterations — but where Pitch Perfect is concerned, we would L-O-V-E for the OG cast to stick around. And like, can that actually happen please? Does Pitch Perfect 3 really have to be the end? Please say it doesn’t have to be the end.

While we wait for Universal to answer our prayers for more Kendrick as Beca, we’ll celebrate the long-awaited release of Pitch Perfect 3 — in theaters December 22nd.
