Filming “Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales” was like a family vacation, and we’re so sad we weren’t invited along

Are you ready to set sail with Captain Jack and the rest of his high seas crew? Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales has charted a course for Blu-ray and digital release, and ahead of that, we’ve got a look at some of the behind-the-scenes features you’ll find with this treasure.

By far, everyone’s new favorite character* from the film is Carina Smyth (ahem, aka [and spoiler] Carina Barbossa), played by Kaya Scodelario. But as for Scodelario’s favorite scene while shooting? That actually came toward the end of the production when she and the rest of the crew found themselves on a “little vacation.”

"I really liked [filming the] stuff at the end," Scodelario tells Brenton Thwaites, who played Henry Turner in the film. "It had been such a tough shoot, and so long, and everyone was so tired. We ended up on this little paradise island and it felt like we were on vacation as a family...I remember thinking, this is such a great way to finish it off."

As Thwaites explains, they could actually only shoot that scene where they’re running along the beach once, because sand. “What a fantastic way to finish a movie, with one take. This is it, after this, we can’t do it again.”

Thankfully, you can watch this scene again and again when Pirates of the Caribbean docks on digital September 19th and on Blu-ray October 3rd.

*Fine, Carina was my favorite character, because the world needs more badass lady pirates/scientists.
