Pink shared a breast pumping selfie, and this is why we’re cheering
Now more than ever, moms have managed the art of multitasking. Because moms? Well, they’re awesome. And this picture of Pink breast pumping has us cheering, since it further proves that breastfeeding is nothing we should be ashamed of.
Unfortunately, the topic of feeding your baby has brought out a lot of mommy-shamers. While many state that breast is best, others are quick to judge moms who breastfeed in public. Some moms feel the shame while using formula, even though it’s a perfectly healthy alternative. In general, most moms just can’t win.
While we believe that every situation is different, we have to applaud the fact that more and more celebrities are making a point in sharing what goes on behind the scenes with breastfeeding and pumping.
In her photo, Pink is rocking a breast pump — a must-have for working moms who choose to breastfeed.
Her fans were quick to praise the singer for showcasing how normal of a process this is for moms.
"You are amazing! Thanks for sharing! Because breastfeeding is normal!" one fan wrote in her comment section.
Pink currently has two little ones at home. Her second child, Jameson Hart, was born in late December. And thanks to her Instagram posts, we’ve been able to see the adorable little guy grow before our very eyes.
She’s not the only celebrity who has promoted the normalcy of breastfeeding and pumping. Mila Kunis, who recently gave birth to her son Dimitri, opened up about how she’s personally felt a bit of shame feeding her kids in public.
"In the States and in our culture, we sexualize the breast so much that there’s an aspect of it that people just don’t know how to wrap their head around the idea of showing your breast in public," she said to The Huffington Post last year. "If it’s not for you, don’t look."
Pink may just be able to relate to what Kunis had to say. Regardless, we’re happy that Pink has managed to find the perfect “work mom balance,” and applaud the fact that she’s willing to showcase what it’s really like to go back to work while nursing a baby.
