Why these moving pictures of a soldier and his dog are going viral
Army Spc. Andrew Brown and his military dog, Rocky, were injured in Afghanistan last week, but now it looks like they’re recovering together at Walter Reed military hospital in Bethesda, Maryland. The 89th Military Police Brigade posted photos of the soldier and his canine companion in their hospital bed to their Facebook page, and it’s a sobering reminder of those who risk their lives everyday.
The first post was a photo of Rocky nestled under a blanket decorated with American flags and his head resting on a pillow, but it’s the purple heart medal pinned to Rocky’s collar that really gets us. The picture is captioned, “One of our Military Working Dogs, Rocky, and his handler were injured this week during operations in Afghanistan. Rocky and his handler are staying in the same room right now as they are receiving treatment for their injuries. Please keep them in your thoughts and prayers as they recover during the holiday season.”
