The adorable (and sometimes scary) animal hybrids of Internetland

The Internet has done it again — it has created the most adorable pictures of animals that we just can’t stop looking at. Well, techincally Sarah DeRemer created them, but they live strictly on the Internet. And technically, not all of them are adorable. Petapixel brought our attention to DeRemer’s appropriately titled series Hybrid Animals, where she combines images of two very different animals into one adorable, and sometimes really frightening, animal. Okay, most of them are more frightening than adorable (just wait, you’ll see).

What made her decide to do this to us, you might be wondering? DeRemer told Bored Panda, “I started creating hybrid animals as a way to improve my Photoshop skills. I find it fun to mix animals, especially when it creates a startling juxtaposition such as a ferocious animal on a cute and tiny one. I started creating them for the Hybrid Animals sub-reddit, and now make them for fun and by request for people.”

Not only does DeRemer create new species of animals, she also names them. Some of the hybrids are potentially nightmare inducing, but they’re totally worth the risk. Take a look at some of our favorites:
