“The Belly Art Project” depicts pregnant women with creatively decorated baby bumps, and the photos are stunning

Pregnancy is always a life-changing event for the individual experiencing it. But there are very few opportunities for us to celebrate it on a large scale. Spanx creator, Sara Blakely, helped spearhead a project with the goal of helping pregnant women celebrate this phase of their lives.

How? By turning pregnant women's beautiful bellies into canvases.

In her new book, The Baby Art Project, Blakely explains how the inspiration for the project came to be, as reported by Cosmopolitan:

"I want[ed] to give my husband a creative baby gift; I want[ed] to capture the moment in time with my belly in an out-of-the-box, lighthearted way; and I want[ed] my son to have these pictures as a keepsake in his baby book."

Those featured in the book include athletes, famous folks, powerful executives, and “non-famous ladies,” and all of the author proceeds will be donated to Every Mother Counts — an organization that helps to ensure that every childbirth and pregnancy around the world is as safe as possible.
