A petition is asking that Beyoncé, Kendrick Lamar, and other artists donate their Coachella earnings to pro-LGBTQ groups, and here’s why

As we welcomed the new year, we were upset to learn that Phil Anschutz, the owner of Coachella, donated money to anti-LGBTQ+ organizations such as the Alliance Defending Freedom, the National Christian Foundation, and the Family Research Council (he later said he did not know that these groups were anti-LGBTQ).

But wait, it may have spawned something good!

A Care2 petition is circulating, and it’s asking big artists like Beyoncé, Kendrick Lamar, and Radiohead, to donate their Coachella proceeds to pro-LGBTQ+ organizations such as The Trevor Project, Trans Lifeline, and The Human Rights Campaign.

The petition is asking for 6000 signatures, and it already has 5955. Clearly, the support is there. We hope that this petition is successful, because these pro-LGBTQ+ groups are doing incredible work for those struggling with their sexual orientation and/or gender identity, as well as offer resources and counseling.

As the world moves towards being more inclusive and welcoming, the groups that are working around the clock to support those in need need our help.

Hence…this petition is crucial. We love hearing stories of a negative turning into a positive, and that’s exactly what hopefully will happen here. You can sign the position right now for yourself here.
