The newest ‘Pan’ trailer shows Peter like we’ve never seen him before
GUYS. There’s a brand new trailer out for Warner Bros’ Pan, and it’s bonkers. Forget everything you know about Disney’s cartoon Peter Pan because this movie completely rewrites his history. How about a prequel that shows Peter teaming up with a guy named James Hook, friend not foe? Will Hook one day lose his hand and truly earn the name Captain Hook? Looks like we might find out in the movie!
Directed by Joe Wright (who did the marvelous adaptation of Pride and Prejudice with Keira Knightley) we meet little Peter (Newcomer Levi Miller) before he’s the boy who won’t grow up. Transported by some magical flying ship, he arrives in Neverland — and this is where he meets up with Hook (Garrett Hedlund, Tron). Along the the way, they come face-to-face with Wright’s adaptation of Tiger Lily (Rooney Mara) and her crew. We discover there’s something about Peter’s necklace — which is called “Pan” — and the fact that it’s considered sacred by Tiger Lily’s group. Soon, it looks it’s an all-out battle for control of Neverland. So! Epic!
If that’s not enough Pan action for you, Peter and Hook actually have a common enemy in the film — Blackbeard, who’s played by Hugh Jackman, and it appears that Hugh Jackman is having the most fun playing a villain. Someone else who’s having a ton of fun is Cara Delevingne, who plays a mermaid, because why not?
This looks like the craziest take on the story of Peter Pan to date, and we’re totally on board with this. The visuals from the trailer are absolutely stunning and magical, and add the incredible cast into the mix and this is a movie we’ll be lining up to see. I also think there’s a tiny little glimpse of Tinker Bell right around the 1:30 mark, because who else would be in a dancing ball of light?
Pan hits theaters on October 9th.
