Peter Jackson has a literal cave of iconic movie props, and it’s a film-lover’s fantasy

Hold onto your hats movie geeks! Because Vulture just let us know that Peter Jackson has a cave of famous movie props, and — kinda surprisingly — they’re mostly not from his own films.

But all of them are movie props we’d love to own! While most of the below geek-tastic video focuses on Hal’s iconic red eye from 2001: A Space Odyssey (one of Obama’s top sci-fi movies, fyi), you can tell he has a super expansive collection.

"I tend to focus on things that made a big impact on me when I was young. I'm doing what I'm doing today because of things I saw [when I was young], like Planet of the Apes, Thunderbirds, all sorts of things that were majorly exciting when I was a kid. They made me want to become a filmmaker."

The sheer amount of props that Jackson fits in that room is absolutely incredible, and we’re kinda jealous that we’re not there to look (and, let’s be real, touch) in person. But we’re fangirling out all the same.

If his collection is this big now, imagine what it’s gonna be like next time we check in! Peter Jackson the mega-fan…we like it.
