The Perfect Summer Beverage: Cinnamon Bourbon Iced Coffee
I know that Summer doesn’t officially start until June 21st, but in my mind Summer begins when I crave my first iced coffee of the year. And friends, it has happened. It’s shorts wearing, iced coffee drinking time. It’s summer!
Everyone has a different way to make iced coffee, my favorite way is to use my left over coffee to freeze into ice cubes, which is awesome once you’re in the habit of it, but sucks when you’re craving the first ice coffee of the year and you haven’t had the forethought to do it.
So here’s what I do. I make a strong pot of coffee, like twice as strong as I normally would, pour it into a (tempered) glass, fill it with ice cubes and stir until it cools down. Then I pour milk and simple syrup in.
And if I’m in an especially good mood, I make that simple syrup with brown sugar, for a bit more depth, and sprinkle in a pinch of cinnamon to give it some oomph. And then I mix in some bourbon, because I love bourbon. Top it with milk and it is one beautiful, summery, simple cocktail.
