People’s “most beautiful woman” Sandra Bullock puts beauty in perspective

People magazine just unveiled their cover of the 2015 Most Beautiful People issue — and the cover star is none other than Sandra Bullock. While it might be a milestone for the magazine — Sandra is officially the oldest celebrity to grace the Most Beautiful People cover at age 50 — the Oscar-winning actress says that she really doesn’t place much of a priority in physical beauty.

“Real beauty is quiet,” she told the magazine. “Especially in this town, it’s just so hard not to say, ‘Oh, I need to look like that.’ No, be a good person, be a good mom, do a good job with the lunch, let someone cut in front of you who looks like they’re in a bigger hurry. The people I find most beautiful are the ones who aren’t trying.” According to the interview with People, she considers her day-to-day role as a mom to 5-year-old son Louis, who she adopted in 2010, the real source of beauty in her life.

In terms of her recent projects, Sandra will be voicing a villain in the upcoming prequel to the Despicable Me series entitled Minions — but since she first started acting in 1987 with a small part in the movie Hangmen, she’s acted in almost 50 films.

Although the moniker of ‘Most Beautiful Person’ might sound a little superficial at face value, it’s nice to see that People is celebrating a woman who gets what “beauty” is all about—it isn’t superficial, it’s real at every age, and it’s all about staying grounded. Kudos to Sandra, and thanks for preaching the truth!
