People are still obsessed with Tom Holland’s Rihanna performance, which is understandable

Sometimes you make your mark on the world in mysterious ways. Like poor Tom Holland, who no one remembers played Spiderman in Captain America: Civil War. What they do remember? Tom Holland’s epic Rihanna performance on Lip Sync Battle. There are certainly worse things to be remembered for, but when you’re an actor trying to impress the world with your superhero skills, it’s probably mildly irritating that fans only remember you once performed “Umbrella” really, really well.

Holland said, “People come up to me like, ‘Dude, You were so good in Lip Sync Battle!‘” He said he’ll then ask his fans what they thought of Civil War and they usually have absolutely no idea what he’s talking about. Poor dude. The upside is that he didn’t make himself look like a total idiot on Lip Sync Battle, and let’s be real — that’s not an easy thing to do. Then again, Holland did get his break by starring in the Broadway musical Billy Elliott, so it’s not like he doesn’t know his way around a tune.

Holland explained that he put a lot of thought into his Lip Sync Battle performance, especially since he was up against Zendaya, who is actually a pop star. “I just knew that if I was going to have any chance of beating Zendaya, I’d have to just go all out, and go down the funny route,” he explained.

Tom Holland will never live this Rihanna performance down.

Zendaya, who stars with Holland in Spiderman: Homecoming, which comes out later this summer, wasn’t so bad either. In fact, she allegedly sent Holland a text of some flowers that Bruno Mars sent her, congratulating on her own Lip Sync Battle performance of his songs.

Unfortunately, Rihanna didn’t seem to notice Holland’s moves and hasn’t reached out to him yet, so Zendaya really is the all-around winner. Sorry, Spidey.
