Paula Patton opens up about finding joy after divorce

The gorgeous Paula Patton, who launched her acting career with the movie Hitch, finally opened up about her divorce from musician Robin Thicke, which took place last year.

“t’s been fun and interesting and I’ve learned a lot about myself and a lot about a lot of other people and what I like and don’t like,” Paula recently told Essence.

The star of the new sci-fi flick Warcraft admitted she’s back on the dating scene, but she says it’s been “kind of strange.” “I met [Robin] when I was 15 years old, and I have no idea what I’m doing. But it’s exciting; it’s so fun. I’m having a blast,” Paula says.

Even though she’s back on the market, it doesn’t seem like Paula, who has a six-year-old son, Julian Fuego Thicke, is in any rush to get too serious with anyone just yet — single life seems to be really good for her.

“It’s really nice, honestly, getting used to being alone,” Paula says. “It’s freeing. It’s scary at the beginning. It’s really scary. But it’s something I’m coming to embrace, knowing that that’s really what it is now – learning to love yourself, enjoying your time with your friends and family, and then it will sort itself out. But I gotta figure all that out I think first. I have to learn that.”

We love that she’s using her alone time to better understand herself, because that’s SO important. But Paula does see herself finding a man someday, and she’s got her eyes peeled for a very specific type.

“Somebody who really likes to have fun. I want a man, but I want a man that also wants to embrace his inner child. You know? Laugh. Have fun. Enjoy the moment…I want to be happy. Life is too short.”

Preach, girl! We’re so happy to hear she’s doing amazing after something that can be so heartbreaking.
