Paul Walker’s daughter is honoring his legacy in an incredible way

It’s been nearly two years since Fast and Furious actor Paul Walker’s life was tragically cut short in a single car collision, but his legacy lives on through his 16-year-old daughter, Meadow.

Since her father’s passing in November 2013, the younger Walker has taken it upon herself to honor her dad in many ways, including sharing a touching childhood photo of the two together on Father’s Day, and yesterday—on what would have been his 43rd birthday—by creating a foundation in her father’s name that will benefit students and researches for years to come.

According to its official website, the newly-minted Paul Walker Foundation will work with Jacques Cousteau’s Ocean Futures Society and the Monterey Bay Aquarium to “provide grants and scholarships to selected students and researchers pursuing marine science educations or working on advancements in the field.”

The foundation is a tribute to Walker’s fascination with the ocean as well as the degree he earned in marine biology when he attended college. In fact, Paul Walker loved the ocean so much that he went on a handful of expeditions to catch and tag great white sharks!

“Reflecting on my father, I found myself reflecting on his passions,” Meadow Walker wrote in an Instagram post shared on Saturday. “His passion for the ocean, his passion for rescuing animals, his passion for helping people and his passion for spontaneous goodwill. I wanted to start this foundation because I want to share that piece of him with the world.”
