Patrick Stewart may be willing to revive Professor X for “Deadpool”

With Logan now in movie theaters, many of us thought we had seen the end of Hugh Jackman’s and Patrick Stewart’s superhero careers. But we were wrong.

Comic nerds, listen up: Despite his retirement, Patrick is open to reprising his role of Professor X for a cameo in Deadpool 2.

Now that there’s a (hilarious) teaser out for Deadpool 2, it seems like we might be seeing more of one of the iconic X-Men actors again (!).

According to ScreenCrush, Patrick revealed this possibility in a recent live interview with MTV.

"I would have said yes, but the discussion just now about Deadpool makes me think, well, maybe there is a proper justification for the revival of Charles Xavier," he said.

ScreenCrush goes on to speculate that give the timeline of the X-Men franchise, it actually makes perfect sense. Because Deadpool and Deadpool 2 are the only two films that take place in the present, Patrick’s age is consistent with how Professor X would look at this point in time.

Uproxx goes one step further to say that a cameo isn’t really breaking a retirement. Besides, who wouldn’t want to appear alongside Ryan Reynolds in the beloved Deadpool series? We know we wouldn’t turn it down!
