9 Reasons You Need To Be Watching Party Down (Again)
Once upon a time there was a show starring Adam Scott, Lizzy Caplan, Jane Lynch, Ken Marino, Ryan Hansen, Martin Starr, and Megan Mullally. This show was called Party Down and it was glorious. Alas, it lasted but one season on the Starz network before the fates cruelly struck it down (CRUELLY). But with a swift kick to the fates’ collective pants, Party Down rises again as Hulu has acquired rights to stream the whole series.
If you caught onto the delight of the show the first time around, chances are I’ve already lost you in a furious flurry of clicks and keystrokes over to Hulu. But if you need an introduction or a refresher: Party Down was the hilarious saga of a group of aspiring actors and writers who worked as cater-waiters, focusing in particular on Adam Scott’s return to their company after failing to make it big as an actor.
And if the comic titans that make up the ensemble aren’t enough to get you watching, you should know it was created by the crack team of Rob Thomas, Paul Rudd, John Enbom, and Dan Etheridge. Yup, that Paul Rudd. And who’s Rob Thomas? No big thang, just the dude who created Veronica Mars. And plenty of Veronica’s cast made their way onto Party Down.
And if you need specifics, here are 9 reasons you simply must marathon those 20 masterful episodes:
1) Relatable characters who are just like us.
2) Truth bombs being laid left and right.
3) Dysfunctional romance played out by two people with great hair!
4) Kick-ass guest stars.
5) Megan Mullally’s classic, subtle acting style.
6) Insightful observations.
7) Steve Gutenberg. The Gute, guys. The Gute’s back.
8) This fall.
9) So you can learn why “Are we having fun yet?” is a very loaded question.
