Paris Jackson clapped back at news outlets for reporting on her sexuality

On July 14th, model and activist Paris Jackson discussed her sexuality with fans via an Instagram Q&A session. And although she’s been open about the fact that she’s attracted to both men and women for years, news outlets began running stories about her “coming out.” Jackson, in turn, clapped back, noting that not only is the information irrelevant, but it’s “old news.”

After a fan asked Jackson if she’s bisexual, the star replied, “That’s what you guys call it so I guess — but who needs labels?” The statement quickly made the rounds on celebrity gossip sites. However, Jackson wasn’t having it.

In a since-deleted tweet, she wrote, "EVERYONE HAS KNOWN FOR YEARS I CAME OUT WHEN I WAS 14, WTF. Like, how many pictures are there with me kissing females?????" In another now-deleted post, Jackson wrote: "Jesus, I can count pics of at least four different girls that were leaked in the past six years. WHY IS THIS A THING?"

“How many times have i publicly referred to the community as “my fellow LGBTQ+”? like even on stage,” Jackson later tweeted alongside a Digital Pride report of her “coming out.” She continued, “I’ve been apart of the community for years. i even mentioned having crushes on girls when i was 8 in a magazine before. i’ve been caught kissing girls in public. this is not news…”

She even tweeted directly at several specific outlets.

Thankfully, Jackson’s supporters came out in full force, with many noting that she should never feel obligated to explain herself.

We’re glad Jackson is speaking up for herself, and hope we’ll soon live in a world where a person’s sexuality isn’t considered “news” at all.
