We just discovered the real reason Paris Hilton is refusing to give back her $2 million engagement ring

12/20/18 update: In a December 19th interview on Jenny McCarthy’s SiriusXM show, Paris Hilton revealed that she and former fiancé Chris Zylka acquired the $2 million dollar engagement ring for free from a jeweler, and the jeweler is not asking for it back because this person received “millions and millions of dollars of free publicity.” So that, friends, is the real reason why Hilton has not returned the ring to Zylka.

By now, you’ve probably heard that another Hollywood love story has come to an end. Paris Hilton and fiancé Chris Zylka have called off their engagement less than one year after he got down on one knee in Aspen. He proposed to her with a $2 million engagement ring—a diamond that Hilton is reportedly refusing to give back.

The pear-shaped ring Zylka gave Hilton has been making headlines all year. There were reports that the heiress hired extra security to help guard the diamond, and she apparently got three lower-cost replicas made so that she could travel without risk of losing the real one (basically, she really loves this ring). So it makes sense that she’s unwilling to part ways with the stone. According to TMZ, the exes haven’t seen each other since the breakup, but Zylka has asked for the ring back.

TMZ also notes that under California Law, Zylka has every right to request a ring return because Hilton reportedly called things off. However, in a lot of other states, an engagement ring is considered a “gift,” so the receiver technically has every right to keep it.

It’s unclear who will get custody of the massive diamond, and we’re honestly very intrigued to see how this one plays out.
