Pantone colors are coming to Sephora, and they are swoon-worthy

Pantone recently unveiled the color for 2016, and surprise surprise, we were blessed with not one, but two shades. Serenity, a soft shade of blue, and Rose Quartz, a pastel shade of pink have taken the reign, and we can’t help but think this decision was influenced by the opal color trend that overtook everyone’s hair this year.

If committing to opal hair is just too much work for you, one of the easier ways to incorporate these colors into your life is through makeup, and Sephora’s got you covered. For the 5th year in a row, Sephora is partnering up with Pantone Universe to launch a makeup collection based on Pantone’s Colors of the Year. If you didn’t already have Sephora gift cards on your holiday wish list, you’ll definitely want to add them ASAP.

The collection features an eyeshadow palette, lipsticks, and lip gloss in shades beyond Rose Quartz and Serenity. They’re all soft, pastel shades that compliment and work with the cool tones of blue and pink. According to Sephora, these are “the colors of innocence and expressionism [brought] into a bold new palette of modern watercolors.”

There are 2 shades of lipstick: Rose Quartz, which has a high-shine finish, and Serenity, which has a matte finish. You can wear the lipsticks alone or together for a cool ombré effect. The eye shadow palette has 24 colors in a mix of shimmers and matte. The lip gloss set has 6 colors: the two hero shades and surprisingly complimentary shades of yellow, orange, purple, and mauve.

In a press release regarding the collection, Leatrice Eiseman, Executive Director of the Pantone Color Institute, said that Serenity and Rose Quartz “demonstrate an inherent balance between a warmer embracing rose tone and the cooler tranquil blue, reflecting connection and wellness as well as a soothing sense of order and peace. Additionally, we are experiencing a gender blur as it relates to fashion, which has in turn impacted color trends throughout all other areas of design, opening our eyes to different approaches to color usage.”

The limited edition collection of makeup will be available exclusively at Sephora and Sephora.com later this month.
