Pantone’s announcement of its annual Color of the Year came as a welcome bit of news this week, introducing happy shade of medium-lime green into the family of famous hues. This particular color evokes palm leaves, lime garnishes on a margarita and oh yeah — the environment. Besides literally “going green,” the Pantone Color Institute’s vice president Laurie Pressman told Forbes that the earthy shade “is about unity and community—connecting to oneself and others and a higher purpose, Nature.” She alludes to it being a pure color with no bias or affiliation in a time where people can so easily feel divided. “Nature is free, and the color isn’t meant to be partisan.”
Though the election of Greenery is said to not have been influenced by current events, it seems everyone is grateful for a little refreshing neutrality ….even if it is practically a neon.
