5 easy ways to have a healthier week

Taking care of yourself isn’t always easy — but it shouldn’t have to feel that way. By making some baby changes in your day-to-day, working your way to a healthier you can actually be kind of fun. Whether that means dancing around your living room instead of going to boot camp, or swapping out a soda for a juice, healthy living doesn’t have to be torturous.

And that’s why we’re partnering up with Panera for the Healthy Living Challenge! In celebration of summer self-care, for the next two weeks, we’re making small changes in our everyday lives with a big impact on our health. Monday: Add a side of fresh fruit to one meal, or have fruit to replace an unhealthy snack.

Comedian John Mulaney once joked that the choice of salad or fries as a side for a meal is basically like choosing between “the two most different foods in the universe.” Why not eschew that decision altogether and go for some fresh fruit? Or, better yet, incorporate the fruit into your meal itself — like in Panera’s Strawberry Poppyseed & Chicken Salad.

Tuesday: Aim to get 8 hours of sleep tonight.

Instead of scrolling through Instagram or watching Netflix until the sun rises, try to put your phone and laptop down an hour before bed. Unwind with a book or a cup of tea instead — anything that relaxes you — and set a bedtime alarm to make sure you hit the hay earlier than usual.

Wednesday: Challenge yourself to make something new and delicious out of your leftovers.

We’re big fans of leftovers here at HelloGiggles, but in case you’re not interested in eating the same thing multiple days in a row, mix it up! Challenge yourself to get a little creative in the kitchen and make something new with your leftovers. At the very least, add a delicious side of sautéed or roasted veggies. It’s the perfect way to feel like you’ve had a full homemade meal with only half the effort.

Thursday: Eat a lunch with leafy greens.

While it’s all too easy to grab some junk food for lunch when you’re hustling non-stop at work, try a meal that’s better for you for an awesome pick-me-up. We’re obsessed with Panera’s Power Kale Caesar Salad — and their dressing is free of any artificial additives!

Friday: Swap out a sugary beverage for a cup of water.

It’s hard to break the soda habit, but the benefits of cutting out it out are basically endless. Make sure to get in your eight glasses of water a day by adding fruit to your water for a spa-level treat. (Seriously, it works.)
