In The Bell Jar, Sylvia Plath wrote, “There must be quite a few things that a hot bath won’t cure, but I don’t know many of them.” This is mantra all of us can get behind. Bubble bath love is pretty universal. Even for panda bears!
Yesterday, the Smithsonian National Zoo posted a video to its Instagram page of panda Tian Tian enjoying a little soak. The super adorbs clip shows an obviously gleeful Tian Tian sitting in front of a tub of bubbly water. He throws the suds all over himself, rubbing bubbles onto his head and ears. He’s into it, guys. So into it that he finally just plops himself down in the tub, even though it’s somewhat of a tight squeeze. This panda is basically all of us at the end of a stressful day.
According to the video’s caption, pandas in the wild don’t bathe regularly. But the zoo has discovered that when Tian Tian is in rut (mating season), he loves to play in water… “Rub-a-dub-dub #TianTian in a tub! Keepers provided him a tub of water with non-toxic bubble bath soap. He really soaked it up. He rubbed it on his ears — which is called scent-anointing. (Wait for the tail wiggle!)”
