Pair your sweetest eyes with your meanest mouth for a cool, contrasting look
When it comes to makeup (and life) I’m all about contrast. I think anything that “goes” together too well risks looking obvious or too much of a “costume” look. I’m all about putting ugly things with pretty things, girly things with masculine things, sexy things with scruffy things. And, in this case, cute things with mean things.
I love a mean bitch-mouth lipstick as much as the next person. Anything that is liable to scare boys is most def my jam. But a full face bitch makeup can be a bit much. Likewise, a girly, pink, glittery eye is a thing of beauty and therefore a joy forever. But a full-face girly look with no oompf can feel, well, girly and it lacks edge. I’m sure you can see where I’m going with this. So I’m here to show you two of my favorite sweet-eyed, mean mouthed makeup looks.
Here’s the first look
For the first look, I paired a glossy, gleaming, glitter eye with a dark, gray-toned brown lipstick. I love this contrast of colors because all the elements are quite interesting and unexpected. The look is kind of “high fashion,” and looks like it required proper makeup skills. Spoiler alerts: it doesn’t.

First, for eyes, I smeared on a generous amount of the Kevyn Aucoin Exotique Diamond Eye Gloss. Whether you really need to spend $38 on an eye gloss is debatable, but this product is somewhat of a stunner. It’s translucent, super glossy, not at all sticky (but also not slidey), and has small flecks of iridescent white-ish sparkle suspended throughout.
Then, on the inner and outer corner, I patted some of the Make Up For Ever Glitter in Pink Multi-Coloured on top. The gloss is great here because it acts as a glitter glue but doesn’t set, so you can mess around with the placement and blend as much as you possibly can with glitter. Like all glossy eye looks, there will be mess and movement, so this perhaps isn’t for type-A personalities. But sometimes, organized chaos is fun.
To contrast this somewhat childish, messy look, I went for a serious, mature lip. I used the shade Muse from Topshop but Chocoholic from the Maybelline Loaded Bolds ($7.49) is similar and more matte. This is the lipstick shade equilibrium between HBIC and CEO, super chic but super bitchy.

Here’s my second look
For my second look, I went with a more intense with eye and lip look that way I could really hammer home the sweet-eyes-mean-mouth theme.

I started my eyes with a generous dusting of the shade Light Pink from the LORAC Pro Palette. This adds a wash of soft, cool color across the lids, but it also helps mightily for blending out whatever you put on top.
Next, I dusted on the Make Up For Ever Star Lit Powder in Frozen Purple, focussing primarily on the inner and outer corners. For light colored, iridescent shades like this, I’ve been loving this placement lately. I think it adds enough vibrancy to a look without seeming OTT.
Next, I took the Sleek Blush in Carnation through my crease. While it’s technically labeled as a blush, I totally dig this formula for eyeshadow. It’s creamy and sets to a powder, meaning you get the best of both worlds in terms of blending easily and longevity. I also really love just a hint of this shade washed all over the lid for a subtle but super pretty pink-eye look.
To really amp up the prettiness-factor, I finished by pressing Urban Decay Moondust Eyeshadow in Space Cowboy over the whole lid with a finger. It looks beige when you swatch it but over the lids, it just adds shine, which is handy for when you don’t want your blending moving all over the place.
The lips for this look were simple but effective. It was just an all over coating of the Rimmel London ScandalEyes Waterproof Kohl Eyeliner in Black. This is a great choice for black lipstick because it’s opaque and highly pigmented. Plus, it’s creamy to apply, and sets down, and lasts all day. Not to mention, you probably already own a black eyeliner, and buying black lipstick is a bit of a risk, cost-per-wear wise!
