Just in time for 4th of July, Netflix’s “Ozark” gets a patriotic (and eerie) teaser
Netflix has had no shortage of originals lately between GLOW, Gypsy, Orange is the New Black, House of Cards, and more. Coming up soon, and among others, there’s Ozark — and Netflix just released an ominous, new teaser to get us even more excited.
Ozark is a dark family drama from Jason Bateman, who directed, executive produced, and stars in the series. Playing on the patriotism that surrounds the 4th of July, the teaser is set to “America the Beautiful,” but things are a far cry from fireworks, pool parties, barbecues, and hot dog-eating contests.
Which is to say, things are looking a lot less “beautiful,” and a lot more scary.
Seriously, what starts as good ol’ family time quickly turns into Marty (played by Bateman) stumbling upon dead bodies, and his wife Wendy (Laura Linney) mopping up blood.
Yep, talk about a *happy* 4th of July.
Ozark delves deep into the world of drug-money laundering. In the series, Marty and his family relocate from the Chicago suburbs to a summer resort community in the Missouri Ozarks. Themes include capitalism and family dynamics, and if the teaser sets it up to be anything, it’ll be like Breaking Bad meets Arrested Development.
Bill Dubuque and Mark Williams — who both worked on Ben Affleck starrer The Accountant — created the show. It premieres July 21st on the streaming site, so start that official countdown now, and get ready to get your binge on!
