The “Overboard” trailer is here, and uhhh, at least it has Anna Faris in it

There are too many remakes going on in Hollywood to properly keep track of, tbh. Some of them are exciting, some of them make us a little nervous. The Anna Faris-led Overboard remake falls into the latter category, and, uhhh, after watching the trailer, we’re still kind of nervous about it, but at least we get to see more of Anna Faris? Because we love Anna Faris. We’re just really confused about this movie.
The original starred Goldie Hawn as a spoiled heiress and Kurt Russell as a worker on her yacht. Goldie gets amnesia, and Kurt gets revenge by pretending they’re married.
The new movie is basically that, but in reverse — Faris works on on the yacht of a spoiled jerk, who falls overboard (hey, that’s the name of the movie!) and gets amnesia. To get revenge on him for how he treated her, she pretends that he’s her husband and makes him live a middle class life.
Don’t get us wrong, we love Overboard, but it’s also one of those movies that has a plot that doesn’t exactly translate to a remake? Especially for today’s audience.
Because once it’s redone, we can’t stop thinking about the logistics here. Why does the hospital release this man to Anna Faris? How does she get everybody around her to agree to prop up this charade? How does this man have nobody to collect him? How does somebody who’s clearly incredibly wealthy have such a minimal public presence that nobody comes forth saying, like, “yo, this is my rich jerk-friend” before Anna Faris whisks him off?
More pressingly — Anna Faris plays a character named “Kate.” Since Goldie Hawn starred in the originally, we were already wondering why they didn’t cast Kate Hudson, Hawn’s daughter and rom-com expert, in the lead. Now we’re wondering if they tried, but she turned them down? Because it seems like this role was literally made for her. And how does Kate feel about this? How does Goldie feel about this?
Suffice it to say, we have questions. Check out the trailer below and generate a few of your own!

We’re def going to watch this, but we’re also going to need some answers.
