The Orlando survivors feature in the lyric video for “Hands” and it’s really emotional

Last week saw the likes of Britney Spears, Selena Gomez, RuPaul, Adam Lambert and Mary J Blige come together to record a charity single, “Hands,” to raise money to support Equality Florida Pulse Victims Fund, GLAAD, and the GLBT Community Center of Central Florida following the atrocious shooting at the Pulse nightclub in Orlando, Fl, which left 49 people dead.

The song, which was written by Justin Tranter, Julia Michaels, and Bloodpop, who also produced the track alongside Mark Ronson, is an emotional and uplifting ballad about unity and the power of human hands.

Speaking of writing the song, Tranter told Billboard that he was inspired to sign up to volunteer at The Center Orlando, the main LGBT community center in the area, after hearing about the tragedy and was told when he called: “We need as many hands as we can possibly get.”

Now the emotional track has an equally powerful music video, which features prominent LGBTQ+ figures  and celebrities such as YouTuber Conna Franta, viral star Rebecca Black, and Mitch Grassi and Scott Hoying from the acapella group Pentatonix.

The clip also features moving scenes of the tributes outside the Pulse nightclub, and most importantly of all features cameos from three victims of the shooting, Patience Carter, Tiara Parker, and Angel Anthony Santiago.

“Hands” is available to download now, with proceeds going towards Equality Florida Pulse Victims Fund, GLAAD, and the GLBT Community Center of Central Florida.
