Some of the original “Hamilton” cast members reunited over the weekend, and it’s so awesome
Hamilton on Broadway, the musical that took the world by storm, has seen a shift to a new cast over the past several months. But that hasn’t dulled the fervor for the popular musical. Over Thanksgiving, Hamilton had a record week in sales, so the hip-hop infused tale of founding father Alexander Hamilton is still going strong.
And although some of the old cast members have moved on, they’re still a tight-knit group. This weekend, several original cast members including Renee Elise Goldsberry (Angelica Schuyler), Jonathan Groff (King George III), and Anthony Ramos (John Laurens / Philip Hamilton) reunited with some members still in the cast like Javier Muñoz (Alexander Hamilton) and Okieriete Onaodowan (Hercules Mulligan / James Madison).
These members of the original Hamilton cast gathered to watch Jasmine Cephas Jones, who originated the roles of Peggy Schuyler and Mariya Reynolds, perform, and the group photo is too sweet.
Renee Elise Goldsberry posted the photo, and in her caption, she admits that she cries every time she reunites with this awesome cast.
"The Beautiful Ones...my sister @Jazzy_Joness SLAYED me tonight with this Prince song and an entire set of soul filling classics! Here's our small reunion @publictheaterny after her show. I have happily moved on from@hamiltonmusical, so why do I weep every time I am reunited with this family?!? THE LOVE!!!"
That group sure does look like they’re full of love, so we don’t blame Renee for getting a little teary-eyed.
